After my friend Jamal Moore spoke so highly of the Tonality family, and after doing my own individual research, I found that this was something I wanted to be a part of. Majority of the work I’ve done over the course of this 6 year journey in Los Angeles, hasn’t given me the opportunity to read music and I was looking to keep that skill polished, and Tonality was the perfect chance.
A group like Tonality is vital because it uses music to tell real stories and spark meaningful conversations. Through their performances, they address important issues and bring people together to understand different experiences and perspectives. For me, as a 30-year-old Black man, this kind of work is crucial because it can break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and promote empathy and change in our communities.
I’m brand new to the Tonality family. But I had my first session a couple of weeks ago for an artist and everyone was extremely welcoming, and personally that makes the difference. I’ve been the new guy in situations and it’s not always such a positive encounter so I was grateful and looking forward to the next opportunities.
